Holm Köhler studied cello and piano at the Munich University of Music and the Cologne University of Music, and music education, musicology and philosophy at the University of Göttingen. He teaches piano and cello and offers accompanying theory lessons — for example in preparation for a degree in music or for music teacher training. He is chairman of FeMiC e.V.

Klaus Behncke has taught piano and keyboard in Cuxhaven since 1992 and guides bands and ensembles through their first steps. He studied at Lüneburg University of Education and at the Johannes Brahms Conservatory in Hamburg, and has worked at several music schools in the region. Alongside classical piano lessons, his teaching covers pop, rock, boogie, blues, folk and jazz as well as music theory — for every age from 5 to 95. He is deputy chairman of FeMiC e.V.

Christoph Kämmerling, born in 1965, trained as a music teacher and graduated with piano as his principal subject; he completed a course in music education at the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School in Leipzig. He has taught in Cuxhaven since 2001 — patiently and with genuine pleasure in every step forward. His students range from 5 to 65 years old, from absolute beginners to advanced players; he also teaches guitar for beginners. He is treasurer of FeMiC e.V.

Olly Lagemann has been active in Cuxhaven for many years as a bass player, guitarist and songwriter, among others with the bands Cats TV, Mont Go, WEISS and GAS. As co-owner of a music publisher, a label and a recording studio he is committed to the local music scene, and he also teaches music in community settings. He gives lessons on acoustic guitar, electric guitar, electric bass and ukulele — all ages welcome.

Boris Moench studied at the California Institute of the Arts and has played in musicals (including Hair, Evita and The Rocky Horror Picture Show) and in numerous bands; he currently tours with BO & FRIENDS. At the music school he gives individual and paired drum lessons for all ages and leads the Pop Instrument Carousel, in which primary-school children get to know the drums, percussion, keyboard, electric guitar and electric bass.

Maren Krüger teaches oboe and recorder and is glad to give an early years music class for four- and five-year-olds. After studying music in Münster and Dortmund and taking a further degree in early music at the Leipzig University of Music, she has lived in Cuxhaven since 1997, where she performs as well as teaches.

Britta Quaiser studied music and history for secondary teaching in Bremen and gained an additional qualification as a music therapist in 2014. She has played the accordion and piano since childhood. In her free time she performs in many line-ups — as choir director and accordionist of the “Büttpedder”, with the “Highland Paddies” (Irish folk) and in the duo “Ebbe & Flut”.

Beate Steffens studied flute with piano as a subsidiary subject in Hamburg and teaches with attentiveness, creativity and a great deal of experience. She encourages her students to make music together and to perform; several have won prizes at the national “Jugend musiziert” competition or gone on to study music. She offers flute from around age 8, recorder and project work, and piano from around age 4 — individually and in groups.

Norma Sudy studied violin at the “Hanns Eisler” Academy of Music in Berlin from 1978 to 1983, graduating as a qualified music educator. After posts at music schools in Berlin and Leipzig, she has taught violin at Cuxhaven Music School since 1999 — to students young and old alike.

Melanie Tielcke-Schären studied violin at the Zurich University of the Arts under Bettina Boller, qualifying as a teacher in 2001. She has gained chamber music experience with various ensembles and chamber orchestras and has attended master classes with the Camerata Lysy. On Tuesdays at 4 p.m. she leads a string ensemble for young string players at the music school.
