Our association · from Cuxhaven

FeMiC e.V.

“Für eine Musikschule in Cuxhaven” — supporting music education in Cuxhaven, Nordholz and Otterndorf. The non-profit association behind our music school.

The Kugelbake — Cuxhaven’s landmark, at the gateway to the North Sea.

History of the association

FeMiC was founded on 13 March 2005 and entered in the register of associations at Cuxhaven District Court on 21 March 2005. On 1 April 2005 the Cuxhaven tax office certified its charitable status. Its aim: to ensure that Cuxhaven continues to have a public, non-profit music school even at times when municipal budgets are tight.

Behind this matter-of-fact chronicle lies a simple conviction: music is part of a town’s cultural life and should be open to everyone. A public music school creates spaces in which children discover their first instrument, teenagers grow together in bands and ensembles, and adults finally realise a long-held wish. That this should be reliably available in Cuxhaven, Nordholz and Otterndorf is not a given — a supporting association secures the foundation for it, precisely when public funds become scarce.

Structure & membership

The association thrives on participation and is open to everyone who cares about music education. FeMiC has two kinds of membership:

Active members

The teachers who give lessons at the music school. They elect the board from among their own number.

Become an active member

Requirements & admission

Any natural person may become a member; minors require the written consent of a legal guardian. Admission is decided by the general meeting of active members with a three-quarters majority, and the application is placed on the agenda as a separate item. Holding active and supporting membership at the same time is not possible.

When you submit the form, your email programme opens with a pre-filled message to femic@musikschule-cuxhaven.de. No data is stored on the website.

Supporting members

Parents, students and everyone who believes a public music school matters and would like to help shape it. They elect the advisory council from among their own number.
